Trisha Mackey Shutt - Hospital Manager, Veterinary Technician

Trisha Mackey Shutt - Hospital Manager, Veterinary Technician

I moved to the Houston area over 20 years ago from New England.  My love for animals, of all types, brought me to the veterinary field 15 years ago.  I started in the kennels and worked my way up to an outstanding Veterinary Technician.

My role at Parkwood Animal Hospital as Office Manager is to assist in the daily routines of Kennel Assistant, Receptionist, Veterinary Technician and to ensure the hospital runs at its most efficient.

At home I live with my wonderful husband Stephen and three four legged children.  Jeza is my pride and joy, a  mix dog that I rescued from the streets of Livingston Texas.  Tang is a orange tabby cat that rules the roost and Toby a Maltese, that is as sweet as he is handsome.  During time off, my husband and I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

I've had pets for as long as I can remember and since I was little I knew I always wanted to work with them. I've lived in League City most of my life but moved to Wimberley, Tx in 2008 where I started working at an animal hospital in Kyle, Tx. I started as a kennel technician and was later promoted to receptionist. It was a great first job because I was exposed to so many new and interesting things which helped me gain a lot of knowledge of the veterinary field. In 2011, I moved back to League City and started working at Parkwood Animal Hospital which I love. When I'm not at work, I enjoy listening to new music and playing video games. I have four dogs - two Salukis named Duffy and Obi, a Terrier Mix Malie, and Anya, a Shepherd Mix.

I have worked in the veterinary field for over ten years as a veterinary receptionist.  I love all the animals and thoroughly enjoy getting to know their owners.  In one visit I will know your pet's history and how you take your coffee!  During my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, George,  and my precious triplet grandsons.  I have been a resident in Friendswood since 1977.

I have worked in the veterinary field for over 14 years and enjoy learning new things everyday. It is very fulfilling being part of such a great team, as well as interacting with the clients and most importantly their pets. My favorite breed is the rat terrier. They are very smart with boundless energy.... much like myself :) I enjoy camping and spending time outdoors and I am currently restoring a 1954 Chevy truck, that was my late fathers. My family means the world to me, which includes my pets; therefore, my compassionate care for animals is greatly reflected in my work.

Amy Swift - Veterinary Techinican

Amy Swift - Veterinary Techinican

I have always wanted to work with animals, so I decided to go to veterinary technician school at Michigan State University where I graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in applied science and my veterinary technician certification. The bond that I share with my pets is very special and in this profession I get to witness that special bond between clients and their pets. I also enjoy educating clients on how to elongate their lives throught preventative medicine. The best part of my day as a veterinary technician is when I get to reunite a pet with their people, I can never tell who is more excited to see who!!

Outside of the veterinary world, I enjoy camping and off-roading in my jeep with my husband Chris. We have three pets: Kolby, a beautiful smiling yellow lab, Jack a handsome gentle doberman, and Kitty-DSH.

Justin Mott - Animal Care Attendant

Justin Mott - Animal Care Attendant

My name is Justin Mott and I have lived in this area all my life. I live in Friendswood with my mother, father and niece. I have been working for Dr. Helen Stehouwer at Parkwood Animal Hospital in Friendswood since its opening in the fall of 2009. At Parkwood, I am an Animal Care Attendant, which means that I am responsible for the basic care and feeding of all animals that board with us. I also assist the doctor and veterinary technicians in their work, and I do a lot of basic “grunt work”. I help the technicians by holding animals, drawing up vaccines, and assisting with anything else that is asked of me by either a technician or the doctor. However, I’m still learning so I can’t help as much as I would like to. My “area of expertise” would be geared more towards animal care. I walk, feed, give play times, baths, and treats to any dogs or cats who stay at Parkwood. As far as the grunt work goes it covers everything from cleaning anything that becomes dirty to taking out the trash. When I’m not working, I will be attending college. I am currently enrolled at Alvin Community College (ACC) as a full time student where I am taking a general course of studies because I don’t know what I want to do as a career. When I finish at ACC, I plan to transfer to a senior university where I will work to get a bachelor’s or possibly a master’s degree in something engineering or computer related. Because of both work and school, I’m afraid I don’t have much of a social life, but I do get out occasionally and go to the movies or just hang out and relax with friends. I see myself as a laid-back kind of
guy.

Kaylin Monacy - Animal Care Attendant

Kaylin Monacy - Animal Care Attendant

I am a recent graduate of Clear Brook High School. While attending Clear Brook I enrolled in a three-year certification course for a Veterinarian Technician Assistant, which brought me here to Parkwood Animal Hospital.  The program helped me strive down the path I wish to proceed, which is to ensure the lives of our animals into being a long and very happy one. My first job at Barkington Inn gave me great hands-on experience in basic knowledge and care for animals. At Parkwood Animal Hospital I continue to learn new things every day, I have made such strong bonds with the staff, clients and their pets.  I feel like I have joined a new family, and that's one of the best parts about Parkwood, we treat you like family.
